The Equality Act 2010 requires us to actively consider how we can positively contribute to a more equal society through advancing equality and good relations in our day-to-day business, and in so doing, mainstream equality into public sector culture in practical and demonstrable ways.
The duty, also known as the General Duty, requires public authorities to pay due regard to the need to eliminate unlawful discrimination, victimisation and harassment; advance equality of opportunity; and foster good relations.
Our Mainstreaming Equality and Diversity report sets out what we plan to do to further improve outcomes on equality and diversity in Clackmannanshire. It is reviewed and updated every four years, with progress reported every two years.
