Coalsnaughton Primary School was built in 1898. An extension was added in the 1970s.
The school is situated in the small village of Coalsnaughton and its catchment area includes Devonside. It is the main focal point of the village and maintains strong community links.
The building has 4 classrooms all with interactive whiteboards, a well stocked library, gym/dining room, resource room and nursery class.
The P1/2 classroom and Early Learning and Childcare Centre share an open area.
The school grounds include a woodland garden and grass area. An outdoor stage and grass 'ampitheatre' style seating has been created to provide excellent opportunities for drama and environmental education and outdoor learning.
The school enjoys close working links with Alva Academy and the five other associated primary schools - Alva, Menstrie, Muckhart, Tillicoultry and Strathdevon.
The ethos of the school is based on mutual respect between all members of the wider school community.
We promote a positive discipline policy where praise and encouragement are used. We also encourage children to develop self-discipline and take responsibility for their behaviour, whilst encouraging them to make positive choices.
We value the opinions of the children and families at Coalsnaughton, operating an open door policy where parents and carers are invited to discuss any concerns and questions they may have.
At Coalsnaughton Primary staff work hard to provide high quality learning and teaching experiences. We offer a broad-based curriculum in line with the national framework Curriculum for Excellence. This curriculum provides opportunities for children to participate actively in their own learning. The curriculum aims to develop four capacities helping children to become:
