I refer to the emergency safety operations recently carried out by Clackmannanshire Council Building Standards Service on 1^st March 2024 and wish to comment as follows:-

Following reports from a concerned member of the public that there was a chimney at the above location showing signs of deterioration and in a potentially dangerous condition, Clackmannanshire Council firstly inspected the structure and then erected safety fence panels to create an exclusion zone and instructed the services of a structural engineer to assess the condition of the chimney in the interests of public safety. It was the opinion of the structural engineer that the chimney be taken down at the earliest opportunity due to its dangerous condition. Clackmannanshire Council Building Standards then instructed a contractor to undertake these works to remove the immediate danger to the public.

This letter should be treated as formal notification of operations executed under Sub Section 3 of Section 29 (Dangerous Buildings) of the above Act.

The local authority will shortly be in receipt of the final account of the works instructed by the Council and these costs shall be recharged to the registered owner(s).
