Two Clackmannanshire primary schools have been praised by Education Scotland after inspection visits earlier this year.
The Education Scotland inspection team found several strengths at both Park Primary and St Bernadette’s RC Primary.
The inspectors evaluated Park as good in three categories: leadership of change; learning, teaching and assessment and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.
Staff at Park were praised for being highly nurturing and for building trusting and inclusive relationships with children, while placing a strong focus on wellbeing.
The work of the leadership team and pupil support staff was also highlighted. This is leading to improved outcomes for individuals and groups of children, with more engaged children and improved attendance rates.
At St Bernadette’s, inspectors looked at two areas – learning, teaching and assessment and raising attainment and achievement. Both were evaluated as ‘good’.
Staff at St Bernadette’s were praised for working collaboratively to improve children’s learning experiences, ensuring children are nurtured and well-supported and for delivering effective interventions for children who require additional support.
This is helping children who face barriers to learning to accelerate their progress in literacy and numeracy.
Councillor Graham Lindsay, education spokesperson, said: “I welcome the findings from both inspections and it is clear to me that staff at both schools are working hard to provide a warm and welcoming place for the children in their care to learn and grow and thrive.
“I am sure that with continued hard work both schools will continue to make progress as they support all learners to reach their full potential in the positive, nurturing learning environments they’ve created.”
