Muckhart Primary School has been praised in an Education Scotland report after their visit earlier this year.
The Education Scotland inspection team found the following strengths in the rural school:
• Children who are enthusiastic, confident and clearly demonstrate their school values, who engage well in learning across the curriculum
• All staff are sensitive and responsive to the wellbeing of children. Their nurturing and supportive approaches create an inclusive and positive learning environment for children.
• Staff who work effectively as a team who are keen to develop their individual and collective skills to help improve outcomes for children
• Teachers who maximise opportunities to take learning outdoors. Children enjoy learning across a range of learning environments within and beyond the school
Inspectors assessed the following four areas as ‘good’: leadership of change; learning, teaching and assessment; ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion and raising attainment and achievement.
Muckhart Primary has a roll of under 40 pupils over two classes and inspectors suggested that its teachers should explore ways of linking up with colleagues from other schools so knowledge and experiences can be shared.
Councillor Graham Lindsay, spokesperson for People, said: “I welcome the findings from the inspection and congratulate the staff there for providing such a warm and welcoming learning environment for the children.
“It is particularly pleasing to see the headteacher is well-respected by children, staff, parents and partners and that the school is regarded as an important part of the community.
“I am sure that with continued hard work this nurturing and supportive school team will continue to make progress while maintaining the inclusive and positive learning environment they’ve already created for the children.”
