Education Scotland revisited Alva Primary School, ASD provision and ELC class in January this year.
HM Inspectors found that:
The visiting HM Inspectors praised the school’s new headteacher stating that ‘she has worked tirelessly and has been instrumental in leading change and improvement, ably supported by the depute headteacher’.
They also noted that there is a more collaborative culture across the school community based on positive and trusting relationships.
HM Inspectors described the school’s approach to ensure the needs of children and families are met as ‘highly-effective’.
They reported that Pupil Equity Funding is used effectively and is impacting positively on children’s attainment, achievement, attendance and wellbeing.
Inspectors reported that as a result of well-managed change, children’s levels of engagement, achievement, attendance and attainment are improving.
The school now has one of the highest attendance rates in the local authority.
Councillor Graham Lindsay, education spokesperson, said: “The staff team, school community and education officers have worked hard to ensure that positive progress has been made.
“I am pleased to see that inspectors have recognised the impact of everyone’s hard work and commitment.”
