Six projects share £84,000 in grant funding

Six community projects have been awarded a total of £84,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Communities and Place Capital Grant Fund.

This new funding was provided by the UK Government and administered by the Council.

The grant scheme was launched in late September asking for applicants  to come forward with suitable projects.

The fund aims to support projects which improve accessibility, energy efficiency or resilience as well supporting sports, arts, cultural and heritage assets and improving greenspace.

The successful applicants:

  • Alloa Gymnastics Club was awarded £9593 to undertake energy efficiency measures in their multi-purpose room as well as improve the facilities
  • Clackmannan Bowling Club was awarded £6000 to improve the glazing of the building to make the building more energy efficient and to minimise any noise from events
  • Resonate Together was given £24,840 to install a fire alarm throughout the buildings at Carsebridge
  • Sauchie Community Group received £6400 to install new planters in the extended community garden space as well as to replace existing planters around the town
  • Tullibody Community Development Trust received  £8850 to install insulation in the attic space of Tullibody Civic Centre
  • Wimpy Park Community Group was awarded £28,268 to install a large piece of play equipment with a tower theme

Council leader Ellen Forson said: “I am delighted for the six successful applicants who can now put this funding to good use.

“I hope the funds will make a positive and lasting difference to these groups and in our wider communities.

“It is great to see local groups being empowered in this way to access grant funding as local people know the needs of their clubs, groups and communities best.”

Janette McGowan, chair of Tullibody Community Development Trust, said: “We’re delighted to receive the funding, which will help to reduce the carbon footprint and energy bills that are currently through the roof.”

Angela Watt of Resonate Together said: “This funding will improve the security of the buildings and give our community peace of mind that we’re all working together to save this incredible asset at Carsebridge.”

Another round of UK Shared Prosperity Communities and Place Capital Grant Funding will take place in the summer of 2024.
