Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day

Kilncraigs - Wednesday 3rd September 2025

Local authorities throughout the United Kingdom will fly the Red Ensign for "Merchant Navy Day" from 10am on 3 September to remember the sacrifices, acknowledge the courage and show support for future seafarers on which the UK depends.

Clackmannanshire's ceremony will commence on at 10.30am outside the Council offices at Kilncraigs.

Event timetable

  • 10:20am Invited guests gather at flagpole area outside Council Offices, Kilncraigs, Alloa, FK10 1EB, then onto Roundel area (former Town Cross)
  • 10.30am Message from HRH The Earl of Wessex read by Lord-Lieutenant Lt Col (Retd) Johnny Stewart LVO

Flag will be raised by Lord-Lieutenant Lt Col (Retd) Johnny Stewart LVOs Cadets.
